I ordered this with the fur-like fleece inside for cold weather bike riding. It is called a softshell, which to me means a non-hard (completely waterproof) shell that is highly water resistant and wind proof. Someone left out the wind proof and water resistant laminate barrier between the smooth outer shell and the furry inside! I put it on and headed down the street, only to turn around and go back, as the wind was going right through it! No resistance at all! It was if I had a plain old fleece on! I couldn't believe it! A softshell? I do not think so!
By the way, I normally wear a Medium Tall or a Large Tall, but I had to get the Pearl Izumi X-Large to fit correctly. They are really cut small.
So, I think there may be a few other wind proof and water resistant garments, but no other ones that have that nice, soft, decadent fur-like fleece inside, which is a real shame.
PS The Pear Izumi new (2011) version of this is the Brendle. Same problem I am guessing, since it is a "leisure" garment.
