5Pearl Izumi makes cycling all the better and comfortable
By Lawrence A Team
I have gone through most all the top brands of cycling clothing. Pearl Izumi is my favorite. Their sports design, attention to quality and detail, and the fact the gear wears so well is what sets PI above the others.
The P.R.O. cycling short has a unique sheer fabric that really does wick away the moisture effectively. Instead of elastic at the leg openings (like most others use), PI uses a fabulous new black stripe material that adheres to your leg without constriction or abrasion. It is like magic! The shorts stay put and do NOT roll up at the leg or roll down at the waist. The padding is comfy and absorbant. It also wears extremely well and will last a long time. The ride is SUPER comfortable and for me on long trips, comfort is what it is all about. Yes, it cost more but as they say, 'it's worth it!'

5WOW- This is a quality product!
By John N. Twist
I have about 6 pairs of road bike shorts by Canari and Pearl Izumi all of lesser quality (and price). I have been riding roughly 20 miles per day (~175 miles per week) since April on West Virginia's mountain roads and the local rail trail (road bike). These shorts are CLEARLY the best constructed (stitching of seams, silicone grippers and padding was flawless) and are the most comfortable shorts I currently own (no question). The materials (69% nylon/16% polyester/15% Spandex) and padding material and is clearly better than the Pearl Izumi Attack (86% nylon/14% Spandex) shorts (which are my second choice). Sizing is typical of the other cycling shorts- a 32" waist takes a large. I have worn the P.R.O. shorts about 25 times this season and they show no wear. The logos on the Canari's tend to separate from the shorts after repeated washings. I do hand wash all of my bike clothing using a gentle detergent and allow to dry on a towel draped over a heated towel rack. I think these shorts are for somebody who wants a high degree of comfort while riding in excess of 20 miles per trip and has the budget. I shopped around the net and could not find any reputable dealers who offered any significant discount from the $130 retail (got free shipping and no sales tax). I know the price is high but these shorts are in fact worth the added cost- you only have one [...]! I did not go for the top of the line Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Octane shorts for 2 reasons- $250 retail and their hideous Shamu appearance (Black/White/Red). I plan to look for end of season sales of these shorts and will hopefully purchase a second pair for use next year.

UPDATE: Just completed a MS 150 mile ride (9-13 & 9/14) and had only the beginnings of minor irritation (no blisters) during the last 10 miles- all uphill. This only increases my satisfaction in these shorts since my riding partner had some blistering at the end of the first 75 mile leg (Pearl Izumi Attack shorts).

5Superior Cycling Shorts
By Robert E. O'Brien
My riding is about equally split between mountain bike trails and pavement. I owned other bicycle shorts in the past but none compare to the Pearl Izumi P.R.O. These are incredibly comfortable with the extra thick pad and the moisture wicking properties of the material. Now, the bumps and ruts on the trail seem a lot less annoying and I'm finding that I can ride considerably longer than I did before.

Yes, the cost is high. However, in this case, you get what you paid for. I'm so impressed with these shorts that I'm ordering another pair to alternate between bike rides. When I think of how saddle sore I was before wearing the P.R.O shorts and how comfortable I feel now after a tough ride, I am very glad I made the investment. They are worth every penny.
